Tasseography from your own cup

    Online Coffee Ground Reading

Upload the patterns left in your cup after drinking Turkish coffee. Your reading considers recognizable shapes, their position from rim to base, nearby marks, open space, and the question you bring to the image.

What makes a coffee-cup photo readable

    Keep the entire interior visible

Photograph the cup from above in bright, even light. Include the rim and base so a mark can be interpreted in relation to its position, not as an isolated shape.

    Preserve the pattern

Let excess liquid drain, then avoid wiping, stirring, or redrawing the grounds. Natural clusters, trails, blank areas, and density are all part of the visual context.

    Treat symbols as contextual

A bird, road, letter-like mark, or dark patch has no universal promise attached to it. Position, neighboring forms, your question, and personal associations affect the reading.

    Questions about coffee readings

How do I photograph a cup for an online coffee reading?
Use bright indirect light, hold the camera directly above the cup, keep the full rim in frame, and check that the grounds are sharp rather than blurred or hidden by glare.
Do I need Turkish coffee for a grounds reading?
Finely ground, unfiltered coffee traditionally leaves the clearest residue for tasseography. Filter coffee usually does not create a stable pattern on the cup walls.
What do rim, middle, and base positions mean?
Many readers associate the rim with nearer or more visible matters, the middle with developing circumstances, and the base with deeper or longer-term themes. Conventions vary and should be disclosed.
