Can You Read a Birth Chart Without a Birth Time?

What you can often know

The Sun and slower planets usually remain in the same sign throughout one civil date. Mercury, Venus and Mars often do as well, but any planet near a sign boundary must be checked across the full possible time range. Many planet-to-planet aspects remain useful with stated uncertainty.

• Rising sign and exact Ascendant degree.
• All house cusps and planet house placements.
• Midheaven, Imum Coeli and Descendant.
• Chart ruler and angle aspects.
• Precise Moon degree and sometimes Moon sign.

Why the Moon needs checking

The Moon moves much faster than the planets and covers roughly twelve to fifteen zodiac degrees per day. Calculate it near the start and end of the possible birth window. If it crosses a sign or aspect boundary, report both possibilities.

What is a noon chart?

A noon chart uses 12:00 as a neutral display convention when the time is unknown. It does not mean the person was born at noon. Ignore the displayed houses and angles, and label the chart clearly as time unknown.

Ways to find your birth time

Check a long-form birth record, hospital documentation, baby book, family messages, announcements or a relative's written notes. Memory such as "around breakfast" narrows a range but should not be converted into false precision.

What is chart rectification?

Rectification works backward from life events to propose a possible birth time. It is an interpretive astrological technique, not a verified recovery of the historical time. Results can differ between practitioners.

How to request a time-unknown reading
